Reopened in mid-May 2019 after being closed for nine months Former coaching inn. The building dates from the 16th century, with an 18th century frontage. According to Alfred Hedges' book, "Inns & Inn Signs of Norfolk & Suffolk, it's claimed that the Fleece was built by a local builder from the excess profits he made from building Boxford rectory. Hedges also tells us that the oak panelling comes from old box pews which prior to 1887 were in the local parish church. Cask conditioned beers are mainly from Colchester Brewery and local guest ales, lagers and ciders from Suffolk.

A family owned 4 star hotel in town centre covered with Virginia creeper. Styled with a traditional Georgian elegance. Records show that there has been an inn on this site since about the 13th century. In fact there were once three ancient inns on this site - the Angel, the Castle & the Boar's Head, with the earliest reference to an inn here dating back as far as 1281. The present building dates from around 1774-1776 when it was also a posting inn. The town Hustings (electioneering speeches) were traditionally held outside the Angel Hotel & Charles Dickens stayed here in 1859 & 1861 (and earlier) when he gave readings to the town. The Bury Fair was held annually near here until 1871 when it was discontinued after it fell into disrepute. Originally granted by Henry I & held on feast of St James (25th July) Bury Fair was latter moved to feast of St Matthew (21st Sept.) & was a one time visited by Mary Tudor (who also married Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk). By 1721 the fair was very famous with many "knights & gentlemen of estates & gentlemen's daughters" in attendance. Two other fairs once held annually in Bury include the Calf's Tail Fair on Tue, Wed & Thu of Easter week, & a "butter fair" held on 2nd Dec.

This early Victorian backstreet community free house is located just five minutes from the town centre. The Dove has six hand pumps plus jugged ales brought up direct from the cellar. Also a good selection of real ciders. Truly traditional and basic, just how pubs used to be - no lager, TV's, pool or gaming machines. The staff here are very knowledgeable about their ever-changing range of local ales, hence a winner of CAMRA Regional Pub of the Year, twice.

Characterful building and claims to be (in part) the oldest remaining pub in town. According to Listed Buildings Register, it was built in the 15th century as a merchant's house, though it's probably older, being recorded as a hospice for the abbey before the Dissolution. Located just outside the old East Gate. Nicely furnished throughout with a courtyard garden. This former visitor centre and shop located beside the historic Westgate brewery brewhouse has just been revamped (March 2016) into a cafe, shop and bar. It is now undoubtedly the closest public bar to the brewery complex. The bar is now open from 8am until 6pm (Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm Sat), and is licensed for both the general public and brewery tour visitors. Anyone interested in a brewery tour should book first (tours on most days) see their website. The bar will offer a selection of draught products and a full range of bottled and other packaged products from the brewery. Food and snacks including breakfast is also available alongside various other beverages and soft drinks.

This excellent brewpub is on the site of the original Cannon Brewery. Now in private hands, it is a true free house. The Old Cannon Brewery serves good quality food and comfortable accommodation is available. Both the brewpub and stable block are Grade II Listed. They date from mid 19th century. They brew their own beers on site and have a number of signature beers available throughout the year including Best bitter and Gunners Daughter. They conduct tours of the micro brewery (book for tour) and usually brew in the bar using two vessels every Tuesday. Cards payments are preferred but cash is accepted. CAMRA members receive 15% discount on our beers on production of their membership card.

Queens Bar and Grill has opened in what used to be the 'Queen's Head'. With a complete re-design to form an industrial style setting, the bar serves home-made American inspired food and four real ales.

The Three Ways is a traditional country free house dating back to 1643. Not easy to find, this historic gem is worth seeking out. Welcoming fires with inglenook fireplaces warming the beamed bar make this pub a pleasure to visit. Fine garden for summer drinking. Up to five beers, three on gravity dispense, are on tap mainly sourced from independent breweries. A beer festival is held in June, live music & quiz nights also feature along with other events.

With four well kept and very reasonably priced beers and an atmosphere that encourages conversation, this is well worth a visit (or two) and is popular with weekend walkers. The Lindsey Rose is a traditional country pub, one of the oldest pubs in the country, over 500 years old! Based in at the village of Lindsey in the heart of Suffolk. Lindsey is a small village with a population of just over 100 people. The pub reopened in 2017 following renovation. Other than these works, the pub is keeping to the pub’s roots as a traditional pub serving locally sourced pub food.

Attractive flint faced building opened as a pub and shop in the late 1800’s and was sold by Greene King in 2014. A 120ft deep unrecorded well was discovered (safely we hope) during alterations in recent times and is now a feature beneath a grille in the entrance lobby. Classic back and front bars with food available and can be taken in either. Back bar is the public with games and conversation dominating, well-behaved dogs are allowed in here.

Situated in a charming village just two miles off the A14 this fine 14th century building retains the original low beams & stone floor in the public bar. Darts, pool & crib are played here. The large lounge has a big open fireplace. Home cooked food is served in the potting shed & tasty snacks throughout the pub. The large enclosed garden & patio are wonderful for families in the summer. The fireplace was built from stone taken from the abbey at Bury after it was destroyed during the dissolution.

The Greyhound opened its doors under its current owners in August 2011 after being purchased from Greene King. The Greyhound has since undergone a huge refurbishment including the demolition of half of the pub and the erection of a new building housing a new kitchen and new restaurant Twenty One. The pub is committed to supporting the local community.
